Muncho Lake was a refueling stop at Historical Milepost 456 during construction of the Alaska Highway in 1942. Today it is a favorite destination for Alaska Highway travelers, with its beautiful deep green and blue waters and dramatic Rocky Mountain scenery. Wildlife abounds in the area, and it is not unusual to see stone sheep standing in the middle of the highway.
