McBride is located on Yellowhead Highway 16, approximately 132 miles east of Prince George.

Visitor Information: Robson Valley Visitor Centre at the historic train station (0.6 mile/1 km south of main highway at First Avenue and Main Street); open daily, 9 a.m.to 5 p.m., June to September; 10 a.m.to 4 p.m., October to May. Located in the Robson Valley by the Fraser River, the village of McBride was established in 1913 as a divisional point on the railroad and was named for Richard McBride, then premier of British Columbia. Forest products, agriculture and tourism are the mainstays of the local economy.

McBride has all visitor facilities, including hotels/motels (Sandman Inn), bed and breakfasts, cabin rentals, supermarket, convenience/video stores, clothing stores, art gallery, several restaurants, a pharmacy, hospital and 2 gas/diesel stations (1 with sani-dump, 1 co-op card lock, propane at JNR Auto Services). Full-service camping at Beaverview RV Park & Campground.

Attractions:

  • The Valley Museum and Archives, at 241 Dominion St., displays local history as well as current artists.
  • Whistle Stop Gallery, a showcase for Robson Valley artists and artisans, is located in the Heritage Railway station.
