Red Deer has all services, including major chain motels and restaurants, retail outlets and a hospital. Recreational facilities include the Collicutt Leisure Centre featuring a wave pool, waterslide and indoor tennis.

Attractions in Red Deer include Historic Fort Normandeau; Kerry Wood Nature Center; Bower Ponds (picnicking, paddle boats); Discovery Canyon; Heritage Ranch; Alberta Sports Hall of Fame & Museum; Heritage Square; and Red Deer Museum & Art Gallery. The architecture of Douglas Cardinal’s St. Mary’s Church may be seen at 38th Street and Mitchell Avenue. Find the Historical Ghosts (bronze statues capturing moments in Red Deer’s history) on a walking tour in the downtown core. Inquire locally about special events during the summer.
