A Day on Homer Spit

Homer Spit is a unique spot in Alaska. This slightly more than 4-mile-long, narrow bar of gravel juts out from the Homer shore into Kachemak Bay, and it is a center of activity for the town and tourists. The road along the backbone of Homer Spit is part of the Sterling Highway and it provides access to everything: Parking/camping areas, fishing spots, beaches, the boat harbor and boat launches, the ferry terminal, restaurants, motels, live theatre, galleries, a variety of small shops and charter services (for fishing and flightseeing) and even an ice arena. Drive out the Spit or use the pedestrian/bike trail and enjoy the dazzling array of activity in one of the most scenic spots in Alaska.
