Telkwa is located 9 miles east of Smithers and 30 miles west of Houston on Yellowhead Highway 16, at the confluence of the Telkwa and Bulkley rivers.

Telkwa is a charming village with a convenience store, laundromat, post office, a service station that includes a laundromat and cafe, pottery store, gift shop, ice cream parlour, furniture and clothing warehouse store and a coffee shop. Fishing and hunting information, licenses and supplies available at the general store. Riverside and lakeside lodging available.
Camping at Fort Telkwa RV Park (250-846-5012) with free RV pressure wash, WiFi and 30/50 amp service on the east edge of town and Tyhee Lake Provincial Campground, outside the village.
Attractions:
- Eddy Park on the Bulkley River is a good spot for picnicking.
- Historic walking tour to see St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (now Mount Zion Lutheran), built in 1910, and other heritage buildings dating back to 1908.
- Telkwa Museum.
- Kinsman Barbecue is held Labour Day weekend.
