Burns Lake is located on Yellowhead Highway 16, 140 miles west of Prince George.

Visitor InformationThe Burns Lake Visitor Centre, housed in the Old Forestry Home, built in 1919 and located at 540 Highway 16. Open daily in summer from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. Monday–Friday and open weekends (hours vary). Open weekdays 9 a.m.to 4 p.m.in winter.  Free WiFi is available inside or out of the centre; walking/biking trail takes off from parking lot. RVs use the larger parking area across the highway at the College of New Caledonia.

The village of Burns Lake had its modest beginnings in 1911, as the site of railway construction. Today, forestry is the mainstay of the economy, along with ranching and tourism.

Burns Lake has 5 motels, 2 bed and breakfasts, a laundromat, library with internet access, food (Subway, A&W, etc.), a shopping centre and specialty stores. EV plug-ins at downtown parking lot at 313 Highway 16 West and Burns Lake Husky at 613 Highway 16 West.

Camping is available at a municipal campground and at private lakeside campgrounds located east and south of town. Internet available at library.
