There is a gas station, auto parts store, dining and several lodging options like Aurora Denali Lodge. Black Diamond Resort offers backcountry tours and dining. Usibelli Coal Mine, Inc. is a fourth generation family owned business. Joe Usibelli Jr. is President of the corporation while his father, Joe Usibelli, is Chairman of the Board of Directors. Joe Sr.’s father Emil Usibelli, founded the company in Healy in 1943, and it remains headquartered here today. The mine produces more than a million tons of subbituminous coal annually. Laboratory testing proves the sulfur content of UCM coal is among the lowest of any coal produced in the world. Other environmental benefits of the coal include high calcium content and excellent performance in equipment designed to reduce gas emissions and provide an efficient, clean energy source. Tours are not available and it is not open to the public.
